The Origin of The Name Lutopan

THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME LUTOPAN

Tales have been told about a certain barrio named LUTOPAN. It is situated in a mountainous area in the city of Toledo. Stories circulated about how its name came to be. It is believed that the place is inhabited with plenty of snakes. Then, when there is a downpour  snakes would appear and swarm the rivers. Then, there came a point that a very big snake blocked the river causing a wide flood in the place. Water would rush into the houses of the people living there. And, the event keeps on repeating everytime heavy rains come. Due to the frequent occurrence where big snakes would cause floods, the name LUNOPAN was coined to the place. As time passed, the story about the snakes faded. After several years, the name LUNOPAN was changed into LOTUPAN.
